I first started climbing 16 years ago in North Wales with my Dad and since those early explorations have gone on to climb extensively throughout Europe both indoors and outdoors.
My passion for coaching began in 2004 where I enrolled on Sheffield Hallam’s Bsc in Sport Development and Coaching. Studying academically allowed me to develop a theoretical understanding of the underpinning factors behind coaching practice, training, psychology and skills development within a range of sports.
This lead to a more practical career working in Sports Development and Education within South Yorkshire for 5 years. I later realised my dream of fusing this experience and knowledge together with my passion of climbing to create a “nu-school” approach to the way climbing athletes are developed. Active in the spot personally for over 16 years has also given me a wealth of experience across a range of disciplines up to Trad E7, Font 7c+, French 8a.
I am now a full-time coach working with a spectrum of different groups and clients. I am also a member of the British Mountaineering Council and Mountain Training UK’s Coaching Technical Group, developing new front line coach education programmes and Team Manager for the GB Junior Bouldering Team.
